The 282 Lightweight

Back in 1977 Peterbilt Motors printed a black and white fold-out brochure for the Pacemaker single axle non-sleeper cabover.  The brochure was called "The 282 Lightweight, Trucking with Class."  The brochure was promoting the weight savings of the cabover (11,265 pounds) and displayed a unique  tractor, one with plenty of chrome and polish, a fancy paint scheme, yet very lightweight.  I've always been intrigued by the brochure.

Now 27 years later, here is my version of the 282 Lightweight.

I used an AMT Peterbilt Pacemaker 352 for the donor kit, a Griffen Designs Peterbilt 352 63" daycab resin conversion.  Rear AirLeaf suspension and Cummins engine from an AMT Peterbilt 359 kit, Revell-AG Peterbilt 359 wheels and tires, Bare Metal Foil chrome trim, 3M chrome vinyl for the fuel tanks,  decal stripes were made by Paul Kittle (also available from www.JBOT.ca), the Peterbilt nameplates are from JBOT.
